National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW)

Gago Center for Fertility/Gago IVF a fertility clinic and IVF lab is creating patient care packages to support patients on their infertility journey. The package includes guides to supportive services, fertility 101, and a Common Thread bracelet to promote infertility awareness and support in the community. The Common Thread bracelet includes a lotus charm, a symbol of fertility in the Hindu culture. The packages will be handed out during NIAW while supplies last.

“We want patients to know that they are not alone and Gago Center for Fertility is working every day to support them,” said L. April Gago, M.D., owner and director of Gago Center for Fertility.

National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW) is a movement that began in 1989. The goal of NIAW is to raise awareness about the disease of infertility and encourage the public  to understand their reproductive health.

RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association founded this movement and continues to work with the professional family building community, corporate partners, and the media to:

  1. ensure that people trying to conceive know the guidelines for seeing a specialist when they are trying to conceive.
  2. enhance public understanding that infertility is a disease that needs and deserves attention.
  3. educate legislators about the disease of infertility and how it impacts people in their state.

In 2010 National Infertility Awareness Week became a federally recognized health observance by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Gago Staff Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House

We were so lucky and proud to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor recently.  Families from all over the world come to Ann Arbor for their state-of-the-art hospitals and they need a safe and nurturing environment while they’re going through a hard time. The House provides a temporary, inexpensive “home away from home” for those families.

Here we are during our rewarding day! To learn more about you can become involved, check out their national site here.
